Influence of desmethylimipramine on pressor response to norepinephrine, epinephrine and tyramine in rabbits.

Abstract
1. Modification by desmethylimipramine (DM1) of the pressor. response to norepinephrine, epinephrine andtyramine was investigated in the whole anesthetized rabbits and the spinal rabbits.
2. In the whole rabbits lmg/kg of DMI potentiated the pressor effects of norepinephrine but not those of epinephrine DMI potentiated the effects of both amines.
3. In the spinal rabbits 0.1 mg/kg of DMI potentiated the pressor effects of norepinephrine but not those of epinephrine. The larger dose (3 mg/kg) of DMI potentiated the epinephrine effects.
4. The pressor responses to tyramine were antagonized by 0.1 mg/kg of DMI in both the whole anesthetized and spinal rabbits.
5. DMI did not affect the responses to angiotensin.
6. The rabbits reacted with more intense pressure rise to epinephrine than to norepinephrine. These amines produced more intense responses in the spinal rabbits than in the whole rabbits.
